Privacy and statistics
PhysicsHelp.co.uk is free to use. Practice needs no account.
Anonymous statistics
We use first-party statistics solely to improve this website: to see which resources are used, where questions cause difficulty, and whether hints and worked solutions help. When statistics are enabled, counting starts automatically. You can object at any time, free of charge, using Statistics settings at the bottom of any page.
Actions are added immediately to daily totals for the page, resource, question template, first attempt or retry, answer outcome and help use. We do not keep individual event logs or browsing histories. Statistics contain no names, typed answers, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, visitor identifiers, exact question seeds or event times. They are not used for advertising, profiling or decisions about individual students.
Daily totals are kept for up to 400 days so we can compare use across the school year and the previous exam season. Expired totals are excluded from reports and removed during website visits and scheduled cleanup.
Your preference is saved only in this browser using local storage. Existing opt-outs are respected. Clearing browser storage removes that preference. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track also turn statistics off. If preference storage is unavailable, statistics stay off. Without JavaScript, no usage statistics are sent.
Problem reports
Reports are separate from statistics and work when statistics are off. They include the question reference and any description you choose to send. Reports are kept for 30 days. Please do not include personal information. For a privacy question, you can use Report a problem on a practice page.
Hosting and other websites
Short-lived security counters help protect the service. Hosting logs and backups have separate retention settings. External exam-board and publisher links lead to websites with their own privacy policies. We use no advertising or cross-site trackers.
